Privacy Policy

UTS Advancement respects the importance of privacy and the security of your personal information. This privacy policy sets out the way we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information and underpins our commitment to protecting your right to privacy.

Collecting your information

UTS engages with various individuals, including UTS Alumni, about opportunities to support UTS and become a donor. When engaging with you as a donor, UTS will collect your information, including contact details, nature of your donation, your preference for recognition or anonymity. UTS may also receive from you other voluntary information, such as your reasons for donating to support UTS.

Purposes

UTS will use the information held about you for the following purposes:

  • to process and manage your donation(s)
  • to recognise you as a donor of UTS
  • to inform you of opportunities to further engage with and support UTS
  • to inform you about university news, courses, events
  • for benchmarking, analyses, quality assurance and planning purposes, including surveys
  • to develop and provide more tailored communications and customised services to you
  • to otherwise correspond with and maintain contact with you

Disclosure of your information

Information held about you as a donor may be provided to:

  • service providers who are contracted by UTS to communicate with you on our behalf. This includes the distribution of communications to you that may be processed through overseas locations
  • your nominated financial institution for processing your donation
  • the Australian Taxation Office where they may verify your donation

Your status as a donor of UTS will also be disclosed publicly to recognise you as a donor of UTS, unless you have requested to be an anonymous donor.

Your information will not be disclosed otherwise by UTS without your consent unless required or permitted by law.

Managing your information

UTS will keep your information for the above purposes and as a record of communications with you. Records are kept by UTS to meet legal retention requirements.

You can make a request to access, correct, restrict the processing of or delete your information in certain circumstances. To make such a request, or make a complaint about how your information is handled, email the Advancement Unit (refer to contacts listed below).
